Catherine Mahoney

Catherine Mahoney, age 90, of Cold Spring, formerly of Manitou, died on May 27, 2010, at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor.

Born in Yonkers on December 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Theresa (Burke) Tremble. She was the widow of the late James Patrick Mahoney, who predeceased her in 1993.

Mrs. Mahoney was the head hostess at the Bear Mountain Inn at Bear Mountain State Park for many years, after which she worked at Graymoor, Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Atonement as a secretary until her retirement in 1995. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring.

Survivors include one son, James J. Mahoney of Peekskill; three daughters, Catherine (Anthony) Patinella of Cold Spring, Patricia (Robert) Worthington of Barandon, FL, and Mary Ellen (Timothy) Donovan of Hopewell Junction; and one sister, Ann Davis of Yonkers. Eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on May 29 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, followed by interment in Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Mrs. Mahoney’s name may be made to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 100, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN, 38148-0142.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clinton Funeral Home Cold Spring, 265-3333.
