Kathryn M. Malone
Kathryn M. Malone, of Cold Spring, died on June 19, 2010, at her residence. Born on February 23, 1924, in Cold Spring, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. and Clara (Hartmann) Malone.
She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. For many years she was employed in New York City by Catholic Relief Services, an overseas relief agency which distributed food, clothing, and medicine to the impoverished in over sixty countries. In May 1969, she was honored by his Holiness Pope Pius VI by being named a Dame of the Catholic Church for her service to that organization.
Survivors include one sister, Clara Lou Malone Gould of Beacon; one nephew Peter (Carol) Williams of New Hampshire; three nieces Ann Williams (John) Fossett of Massachusetts, Mary Ellen Williams (Michael) Brown of Pennsylvania, and Ellen Dougherty (Robert) Sheffer of Vermont. Eight great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece also survive. Pre-deceasing her were two sisters, Honora Malone Dougherty, Mary Malone Williams; one nephew, Michael Dougherty; and one niece, Cathleen Dougherty.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring. Interment followed in Cold Spring Cemetery. Family and friends called at Clinton Funeral Home on Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clinton Funeral Home Cold Spring.
