Books, Bottles and Good Cheer at Glynwood Will Benefit Haldane
Save the date for the Haldane School Foundation’s Annual Fall Fundraiser at Glynwood Farm on Route 301 in Cold Spring. The event will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 4:00 – 7:00pm. Come out and support the students of Haldane while enjoying an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, outstanding views of the fall foliage at Glynwood and a special musical appearance by our very own High School Blue Devils and Blue Notes.
“The Fall Fundraiser has always been one of the Foundation’s most popular events,” said Dani Locastro, President of the Haldane School Foundation. “It’s a fun night filled with great food, drinks, music and exciting auction items. Keeping in mind that people are still recovering from the economic slow down, we lowered the price of admission to $45 per person this year.”
Partygoers at the fundraiser will enjoy a new “Book and Bottle” themed silent auction where items will include pairings of books and bottles such as a signed copy of “Message in a Bottle,” by Nicholas Sparks with a bottle and a blank scroll to create your own message in a bottle. Highlights of the auction also include a Sports Illustrated magazine signed by Olympic hockey gold medal winner, Sidney Crosby, a William Wegman signed original print and book, and a special set of six Archie comic books signed by famous Archie Comics artist, Stan Goldberg. These comics are a ‘must have’ for collectors as they represent the six issues covering the recent dramatic storyline in which Archie will choose between Betty or Veronica as his wife.
“We chose the book and bottle theme for the silent auction because of the success of a similar auction held recently to benefit the Desmond-Fish Library in Garrison,” said Jennifer Marrinan, Vice President of the Haldane School Foundation. “The book and bottle theme is a creative and fun way to raise additional and much needed funding to enhance the education of our kids at Haldane.”
The Haldane School Foundation is a community-based nonprofit organization, registered with New York State as a 501(c)(3), that raises funds to help enrich the curriculum and support staff development at Haldane Central School District. Last year the Foundation donated nearly $55,000 in enrichment grants for such programs as smart boards, school assemblies including a special performance by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival for high school students, the Virtual Classroom, field trips, the high school language immersion weekend, training for teachers, the groundbreaking Eco Garden and much more.
Tickets to this event are $45 per person. To purchase tickets, contact Eugenie Milroy at Eugenie@haldaneschoolfoundation. org or 845-418-3259. For more information visit haldaneschoolfoundation.org.
