Diane M. Merando

Diane M. Merando, age 69, a resident of Cold Spring since 1989, died on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, after a short illness.

Born in Newburgh, on June 17, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Rev. George Goodwin and his wife, Emma Jones.

Until retirement, Mrs. Merando was employed for 25 years as an executive secretary at IBM in both Poughkeepsie and Fishkill. She was a graduate of Krissler Business Institute in Poughkeepsie. In 1989 she married Charles J. Merando of Cold Spring, who resides at the home address.

She is survived by her loving son, Joseph Yerry, of Raleigh, NC; a stepdaughter, Lou Ann Hyatt; step grandchildren Tracey Calamari and her husband Chris, and Joseph Hyatt; and great grandson, Joseph Hyatt, Jr. Also surviving her are siblings, Rev. and Mrs. George I. Goodwin of East Worchester, NY; Dudley Goodwin of Hopewell Junction; Ellen Young of Binghamton; several nieces and nephews; and last, but not least, her loving Yorkie, Max.

She is predeceased by three sisters, Rillamae Goodwin, Sally Borst, and Carolyn Sayer, and one brother, Harold E. Goodwin.

There will be no visitation. Services will be conducted at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 14 Cedar Street, Cold Spring, NY 10516 or The Cold Spring United Methodist Church, 216 Main Street, Cold Spring, NY 10516. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clinton Funeral Home, Cold Spring.
