Violet G. Lewis

Violet G. Lewis, age 96, a lifelong resident of Cold Spring, died on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady, NY.

Born on August 10, 1914, in West Point, she was the daughter of the late Medrick and Violet (Austin) Guertin. She was the widow of the late Raymond D. Lewis, who predeceased her in 1994.

Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker, a life member of St Mary’s Episcopal Church in the Highlands, Cold Spring, Melzingah Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Lewis of Schenectady; and Jane (Robert) Lewis Klinke of South Cairo, NY; one niece, Shari Mead of Newport, NH; and many cousins. One brother, Jack Guertin, predeceased her in 1983.

Funeral services and interment were private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations in Mrs. Lewis’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in the Highlands, 1 Chestnut Street, Cold Spring, NY 10516. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clinton Funeral Home Cold Spring.
