Kenneth McKenna

Kenneth McKenna of the Town of Newburgh, a retired maintenance mechanic for the United States Military Academy at West Point, entered into rest Sunday, March 13, 2011 at home. He was 68.

The son of the late William and Margaret Cockburn Mc- Kenna, he was born November 27, 1942, in Cold Spring, and was a resident of Newburgh for 14 years.

He was a member of the Gardnertown United Methodist Church. Kenneth enlisted in the US Army in February 1962, and was honorably discharged in January 1968.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Esther Kast McKenna at home. They were married September 12, 1998. Also surviving are his daughters, Tara Schuchter of Cincinnati, OH, and Rosy Hawkins of Florence, KY; stepdaughter Pamela Galvin of Denver, NC; six grandchildren and his little princess Alyssa Galvin; his brothers, William McKenna and wife Mary of Thornwood, NY, Donald McKenna and wife Sadie of Rotonda, FL, and Richard McKenna and his wife Carol of Putnam Valley; sisters Betty Ann Shields and husband Patrick, and Margaret Schatzle and husband Philip, both of Cold Spring; and many nieces and nephews. Also, dear to his heart his cats, Sir Fluffy, Muffin, Morris, and Midnight.

Visitation took place Tuesday, March 15, and the funeral service will be 10am, Wednesday, March 16, at the Gardnertown United Methodist Church, 1191 Union Ave., Newburgh. Pastor Martha Epstein will officiate.

Burial will follow in Gardnertown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Gardnertown United Methodist Church, 1191 Union Ave, Newburgh, NY 12550.
