Senator Ball calls for hearing, environmental groups call for shutdown
Japan’s nuclear energy plant crisis, in the wake of the March 11 tsunami, has put a microscope on the safety of the Indian Point Energy Center, on the Hudson River in nearby Buchanan. Politicians and environmental groups are citing potential natural disasters, unsafe conditions, and even the threat of terrorist attacks as reasons for closer scrutiny of the nuclear plant.
