Marie Veronica Brennan Gorges

Marie Veronica Brennan Gorges, formerly of Cold Spring, passed away peace­fully on March 24, 2011 at Apple Rehabilitation Center in Mystic, CT, surrounded by her family. She was 92 years old. Marie was predeceased by her former husband, George M. Gorges.

Marie was a member of the North Highlands Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the Highland Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and the Senior Citizens Club in Cold Spring, and later in Groton, CT. She was employed in a factory to support the war effort during World War II. In later years, she worked at Sonotone Corporation, A&P, and May’s Department Store.

Marie is survived by her sister, Veronica Ray of Michi­gan; her daughters, Marianne and husband, Charles Darcy, of West Palm Beach, FL, and Joan and husband, Richard Cerniglia, of Mystic, CT; and son, Charles Gorges and wife, Diane, of Garrison. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Brian, Michael, Judy, Lisa, Rick, Jason, Amanda and BJ and their spouses, as well as 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Cold Spring on March, 28, 2011. Marie was buried at Cold Spring Cemetery im­mediately following the Mass.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St., Fishkill.
