Philip A. Dailey, Jr.

Philip A. Dailey, Jr., 83, a lifelong resident of Crotonon­Hudson, NY, passed away at Sky View Rehabilitation and Health Care.

Philip was born on Sep­tember 27, 1927, to the late Philip and Helen Dailey of Croton. He attended Croton schools.

On June 28, 1952, he mar­ried Marilyn Ann Wood in Tarrytown. She predeceased him on August 6. 1988.

He is survived by his daugh­ter Suzanne Shapiro and her husband Barry of Rhinebeck; his son, Philip F. Dailey and his wife Mary, of Tinton Falls, NJ; four grandchildren, Tif­fany Shapiro of Wappingers Falls, Kelly Tasch and her husband Stephen of Pough­keepsie, and Brian and Eliza­beth Dailey of Tinton Falls.

Philip is also great grand­father of Emma and Ryan Tasch. His younger sister, Shirley Engelbride and her husband Edward, reside in Cold Spring. He was pre­deceased by his older sister Helen Caterino of Escondido, CA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Philip was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. Christopher’s Church in Buchanan, NY. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. Philip had a distinguished 47-year career with Penn Central, Conrail, and Metro-North Railroads. He was known as “Croton Phil” to conductors and en­gineers on the Hudson Divi­sion. He was well-respected by his peers as well as the people he served. He retired from Metro-North Railroad in 1993.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 21, at St. Christopher’s Church, Buchanan, with in­terment at Bethel Cemetery, Croton.
