Thousands enjoy end-of-summer fireworks

Cold Spring celebration marks nice end to hard week

Thousands of people thronged Cold Spring's Dockside, Bandstand and waterfront to watch fireworks Saturday night.

They also listened to a series of area bands, and supported the Fire Department, the Haldane Booster Club and the Friends of Philipstown Recreation.

The 30-minute fireworks show drew applause at the end. The fireworks kicked off promptly at 9:04, with the singing of the National Anthem. Throughout the evening, scores of people jammed downtown, and many shops stayed open late. Restaurants were doing a brisk business. While most of the audience set up on folding chairs and blankets at Dockside, others crowded the benches around the Bandstand and dock area, with some sitting on the steps of the display area for the Parrott rifled cannon. Watch Wednesday's PCN&R for more photos, plus the latest on the Hurricane cleanup.
