LADY BLUE DEVILS FALL TO SEWARD IN STATE REGIONALS

Girls' Soccer Run Ends
by STEPHEN SCHWEIKHART

The Haldane Lady Blue Devils' soccer season came to a close on Monday at the hands of Section 9 S. S. Seward 3-0 in the state regional round. Haldane fell behind in the 23rd minute when a Seward counterattack led to a breakaway goal.

Haldane pressed for the equalizer in the second half, but a Sarah Diebboll shot was thwarted by the Seward keeper who managed to cover the rebound just before Sarah Warren could knock it into an open frame. A few minutes later a Jessica Harrison effort went just wide of the left post.

Seward put the game away with two late goals, one with 14 minutes remaining and another as time expired. The Section 1 champs finish their season with a 10-7 record.
