Walter K. Schmager, Jr.

Walter K. Schmager, Jr., age 65, of Port Jervis, NY, formerly of Fishkill, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at his residence in Port Jervis. Born November 26, 1946, in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Walter K. and Mary (Alesi) Schmager, Sr.

Mr. Schmager was a retired self-employed carpenter, member of the VFW and volunteer at Castle Point VA Hospital. He was a decorated USMC veteran of Vietnam and was enrolled in the Purple Heart Museum.

Survivors include four children, Niccole Massaro of Middletown, NY, Anita Pidala of Cold Spring, NY, Walter Rodino of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Richard Lombardo of ME; and three sisters, Frances Thorbjornsen of Argyle, NY, Tina Merando and Jean Brady, both of Cold Spring, NY. Four grandchildren also survive.

Predeceasing him was a brother, Phillip Schmager. Private cremation will take place in Ferncliff crematory in Hartsdale, NY.

Memorial services will take place on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Clinton Funeral Home Corner of Parrott and Pine Streets (21 Parrott Street) Cold Spring, NY 10516 at 10:30 AM. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Burial of cremains will follow in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY, with full military honors. Contributions in Mr. Schmager's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior, Project 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Clinton Funeral Home Cold Spring, NY.
