Elizabeth Ann Lyons

Elizabeth Ann Lyons, age 70, a lifelong resident of Cold Spring, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at home surrounded by her family.

Born and raised in Cold Spring, Betty Ann, as she was known by her family and friends, was born on April 3, 1941n to Helen A. Dye and the late Jerome H. Allen.

On April 11, 1957 she married Ralph R. Lyons, who survives her at their home. In addition to her husband and mother, survivors also include her two children Ann Marie and Jimmy; four grandchildren, Megan, Dylan, Cody and Jimmy; and brothers Jack Allen and Gordon Allen. She was predeceased by her brother Jerry Allen in 2010.

Betty Ann was a retired receptionist for Dr. Barry Glaser in Cortlandt Manor and a parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring. One of her greatest enjoyments was spending time with her grandchildren. Her retirement was spent at many of the grandchildren’s sporting events. She especially loved her time traveling with Megan and the Downstate Volleyball club and continued to attend and support Haldane’s school sports programs.

Affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as “Aunt B” she was a special person who cared deeply for her entire extended family and was always at every family gathering, never missing a birthday, graduation, wedding or baby shower. One of her greatest enjoyments was when the families and their friends would gather at the “farm” for a weekend gathering. Aunt B will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair Street, Cold Spring, NY 10516.

Private cremation followed in Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale. Friends called at the Clinton Funeral Home Corner of Parrott & Pine Streets (21 Parrott Street) Cold Spring, NY 10516 on Friday, January 27.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Clinton Funeral Home Cold Spring, NY.
