Loretto Serves Up Mardi Gras Pancakes

By CATHERINE GARNSEY

The Knights of Loretto hosted their Annual Mardi Gras Pancake Supper on Tuesday night in the Parish Hall of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring.

Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday" and refers to the traditional practice of eating all the rich, fatty foods in the house on the last evening before the fasting of the Lenten season begins on Ash Wednesday.

About 150 people, including many families with children, came to enjoy the pancakes and bacon that were cooked and served by the faithful corps of Knights in the newly remodeled Parish Hall kitchen.

"We always have fun when we come together like this," one mother remarked.  "It's great to have the children participate in such a wonderful Parish event."

The Knights of Columbus are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church.
