Mayor Injured, but Improving

by TIM GRECO

Cold Spring Mayor Seth Gallagher is still recuperating from a nasty fall from his bicycle last Monday morning, resulting in a concussion.

Gallagher participated in “Bike to School Day” May 7, at Haldane, in which parents ride with their children to school, he was bicycling down the hill on Craigside Drive when he hit a speed bump and was flung from the bike.

The accident happened as school started and initial rumors, which proved to be false, had it that a car had struck him.

Gallagher was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was kept for treatment and overnight observation.

In speaking with the Mayor on Tuesday he said he was wearing a helmet and that he had “Twenty or so stitches” in his eye, “along with little pieces of the helmet.” But he said he was feeling “much better.”

Deputy Mayor Bruce Campbell filled in and chaired the Board of Trustees Meeting the evening of May 10.

As of the today the Mayor has re-assumed some of his duties but because of the severity of his injuries he needs to have a light work load for a few days.

There was a Village Board meeting Tuesday morning to pay bills and reassign officiating a scheduled marriage; Judge Thomas Costello will now officiate.

We all wish Mayor Gallagher a speedy recovery.
