Water Work Continues
Cold Spring Water Superintendent Gregory R. Phillips updated the board Tuesday night on the water main relining project. Phillips said the crews were finishing up the above-ground pipe laying in Nelsonville.
The plan called for filling it with water, disinfecting with chlorine and will testing on Thursday and Friday for bacteria. The system needs to be tested twice, so it will be next week after the holiday that the process will begin of contacting residents and tying in individual properties with temporary connections.
Only then will workers start “digging the pits.” Phillips said the project is moving just a little bit slow at the outset but he will give regular weekly updates.
Trustee Ralph Falloon said the fire department would be testing all the fittings on the pipeline via either visual or video inspection.
