Cold Spring Area Was Under Tornado Watch

Rain, high winds Saturday afternoon
PCN&R Staff

The Putnam County area was under both a tornado watch and a severe thunderstorm warning Saturday afternoon into evening.

Earlier Saturday, sporadic rain and high winds hit good parts of the region. The Weather Service advised that hail up to 1 inch in diameter was possible, and that conditions were ripe for the formation of a tornado. Saturday evening, power outages hit parts of the region, including Fishkill, leaving many traffic lights flashing yellow.
