Walter E. Johnson

Walter E. Johnson, age 73, of Garrison, died on Friday, August 31st at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Cortlandt Manor.

Born April 7, 1939 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Emil and Gudrun (Tomassen) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a former salesman and buyer for Abercrombie & Fitch in New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a 1st Lieutenant, from 1962 to 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine “Jos” (vanRooy) Johnson, of the home address, two sons, Ken and his wife Chrissy Johnson of Grafton Mass., and Pete Johnson of Garrison; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan Johnson.

At the request of the family a private cremation service has already taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton Funeral Home, Corner Parrott & Pine Sts (21 Parrott St) Cold Spring, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Mr. Johnson’s name to be made to either The Putnam Humane Society, PO Box 297, Carmel, NY 10512, www.puthumane.org or Lutheran World Relief, Po Box 17061, Baltimore, MD 21297-106, www.lwr.org.
