Evelyn McComish

Evelyn McComish, age 93, a long time resident of Cold Spring, passed peacefully at home on Friday, September 14, 2012.

A faithful presence in the Village of Cold Spring and a member of St. Mary’s Church, Evelyn would rather write than do anything else. She wrote the “Food for Thought” column for the PCN&R for many years, mostly written from the viewpoint of her wire hair terrier, Mr. Spunk.

Much gratitude goes out to Debra King, Evelyn’s caregiver and companion, and to Debbie’s loving family, which includes her 2 Chihuahuas, Butterball and Godiva, who gave Evelyn so much of their love and attention. We have all been blessed by Debbie’s tireless service and extraordinary caring heart.

Special thanks to Dr. Ligenza, Terry Alexander and the rest of the staff. Thanks to the EMS workers of the Phillipstown Ambulance Corps, and to nurse Theresa Travis.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Peter (1983). She is survived by her sons: William and Robert, her daughter, Diana Metreaud and her grandchildren: Dawn McComish, Bernadette McComish, Mina Metreaud, Cameron Metreaud, Jamie Metreaud, Randy Metreaud.
