Lucy Santivenere, 89, a resident of Cold Spring, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor.
Lucy was born January 9, 1924, in Ossining, the daughter of Dominic and Maria (Romangnolla) Rocano. She was united in marriage to Fred A. Santivenere on May 7, 1950, in Ossining. Fred preceded her in death on October 9, 2005. They were partners in marriage for 55 years as a pair who triumphed over time and challenge while maintaining their bond that symbolized unselfishness, generosity, and happy compromise out of love for each other.
Mrs. Santivenere was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. A consummate mother and homemaker, Lucy was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years her family members were treated to a regular family Sunday dinner and gathering. She also loved to sew and offered her talented sewing skills and services to family and friends.
She is survived by her children; Donna (Raymond) Lord, Highland Falls; Nancy (Patrick) King, Brandon, Fla.; Fred (Barbara) Santivenere, Beacon; Donato Santivenere, Beacon; eight loving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister,
Ida (Michael) DeMattio and a brother-in-law, Albert Santivenere, Lancaster, Pa.
The family greeted friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring NY 10516. Funeral services and Ceremony of Christian Burial for Lucy will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Clinton Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cold Spring Cemetery.
