Cold Spring to Run Dry on Tuesday

Interruption will last a few hours, Village says
By Tim Greco

The Cold Spring Water & Wastewater Department issued a warning to residents that the water supply to most of the lower half of the village will be interrupted on Tuesday, May 28th, at 9 am.

It is anticipated that the service interruption will last between one and two hours. Residents are advised to stockpile water in contain- ers ahead of the shutdown.

The affected areas are all streets West of High Street including Main Street, Church, Northern, Garden, Fair, Stone, Cross, Rock, Kemble, Boulevard, Constitution Drive, and Forge Gate, as well as all streets west of the Metro North Railroad tracks.

Superintendent Greg Phillips explained, “With the 10 inch water main out of service for the cleaning and lining project, Northern Avenue has been the main conduit for the potable supply.”

Water Department personnel will be utilizing lowflow flushing devices at fire hydrants to aid in clearing the system.

Discoloration is likely for a time when service is restored.

The pavement has already been dug up at the Northern and Church intersection, with a steel plate covering the area of the valve. Despite the hiccups, the current work on the relining project is still proceeding far faster than last fall.
