Cheap and Cheerful: Interesting Annuals (and Nasturtium Capers)
There’s a lot of moaning and hand-wringing at plant nurseries right now: this is the time when many gardeners here in Zones Five-y Six-ish buy vast flats of impatiens in rainbow ice-pop colors. These warm-weather, lowgrowing, shade-loving annuals are bedded out along sidewalks, around mailboxes, and in containers to dutifully bloom like crazy until frost. Except not this year.
